A Danube boat experience in Budapest no longer means a slow, crowded sightseeing ferry. At Wakesurf Budapest we offer private, flexible cruising on premium American motorboats: you decide whether to watch the sunset over Budapest’s skyline, explore the castles of the Danube Bend, or let the group try wakesurfing. One boat, your itinerary, your pace – this is exactly what sets a real boat experience apart from mass, scheduled river tours.
We have been on the Danube since 2018, with more than 1,000 happy guests and more than 50 five-star reviews. Private boating in Budapest with us means you are not squeezed onto the lower deck of a 200-seat vessel – you have your own exclusive boat, with a captain who takes care of every detail. Whether you are a couple, a group of friends, a family or a company, we always tailor the program to you.

What is a boat experience, and how is it different from a ferry?
The classic form of Danube cruising is the large, scheduled sightseeing ferry: a fixed time, a set route, many strangers on board. A boat experience, by contrast, is private and personal. The motorboat is nimble, gets close to the riverbanks and bridges, stops where you want, and departs whenever suits you – timed for the morning light or the evening illumination. On board it is just your group, so the cruise is not a tourist program but your own experience.
- Private & exclusive: the boat is reserved only for your group, with no strangers.
- Flexible route: downtown, Margaret Island, the Danube Bend – you choose.
- Up-close views: the bridges, Parliament and the Castle Garden within reach.
- Professional captain: enjoy the whole ride calmly, with no liability.
- Any occasion: from a date to a corporate event.
Our boat experiences
A Danube boat experience can take many forms. Pick the one that suits you – each has its own page with details and pricing:
- Budapest sightseeing cruise – the Chain Bridge, Parliament and Buda Castle from the river, by motorboat.
- Sunset cruise – golden-hour light over the Danube, a glass of sparkling wine in hand.
- Evening night cruise – the illuminated city against a dark sky.
- Danube Bend boat tour – a full-day trip towards Szentendre, Visegrád and Esztergom.
- Szentendre boat trip – a half-day getaway to the artists’ town.
- Wakesurf, wakeboard, wakefoil – rope-free watersports with a pro instructor, beginner to advanced.
- Private boat rental with captain – corporate events, birthdays, bachelorette parties or a proposal on the water.

What to expect on board
When you step on board, the captain briefly runs through the program and the safety basics, and then you are off. Our modern wakesurf boats offer comfortable upholstered seating, a powerful sound system and a spacious sun deck. Bring a swimsuit, a towel, sunscreen and sunglasses – leave the rest to us. On request we provide sparkling wine, soft drinks or snacks, and if you would like professional photos of the experience, our photographer partner (@retigerzson) can join you.
Our boats and partner boats
Our own premium American wakesurf boats are the Super Air Nautique G23 and the ATX Type S 22 – perfect for sport, a young crowd and an active boat experience. For guests who prefer comfortable, cabin-style sightseeing, we recommend our partner boats: elegant 24- and 29-foot motorboats with a covered section, ideal for a romantic sunset or a larger group. So everyone finds a boat to match their style and group size on the Danube.
Two departure points on the Danube
- Wiking Yacht Club Marina – 1138 Budapest, Kelén utca. Home of the Super Air Nautique G23, close to downtown, ideal for sightseeing and sunset.
- Budapest Yacht Club, Római-part – 1039 Budapest, Kossuth Lajos üdülőpart. Base of the ATX Type S 22, a direct gateway to the Danube Bend.

When is the best time for a boat experience?
The boating season typically runs from April to October, but each period has its own charm. The summer months are the most popular for swimming and long, warm evenings; spring and autumn are quieter, with pleasant temperatures and often better rates. Sunset slots are the most sought-after all season, so it is worth booking them ahead. On weekdays the Danube is less busy, making the experience calmer and more intimate.
Who is it for?
A Danube cruise in Budapest fits many occasions. For couples, a romantic sunset and a proposal; for friends, a relaxed party and wakesurfing; for families, a calm sightseeing tour; and for companies, a memorable team-building day. International guests especially love seeing Budapest’s finest sights from the river, on a private boat – one of the city’s most authentic yet exclusive experiences.
